Using ClaroRead 5.1 for Mac for Text-to-Speech

ClaroRead 5.1 on the Macintosh can be used to provide text-to-speech with the CourseSmart reader.

  • Using the ClaroRead application does not require the Accessible Reader. There is no need to contact CourseSmart Support for this option.

Each CourseSmart book is available in one of two available formats: Flash-based and Print-Fidelity. Each format requires a slightly different technique for using imported text. Instructions for using ClaroRead with each format follow.

You will know if your book is Flash-based if the Reading Option of “Continuous” is available for selection as shown below:

  • Go to your CourseSmart browser and go to the page you would like to read

  • Select the text you would like to read

  • Click on “Copy” in the pop-up menu

  • Click the Play button in the ClaroRead Toolbar
