Kurzweil 3000 Instructions (Mac)


Using Kurzweil 3000 for Mac

Kurzweil 3000 is optimized for reading text from any source document file. The best method to use CourseSmart with Kurzweil is via a file-based CourseSmart printout. CourseSmart allows you to print up to 10 pages at a time that can be used as the source for Kurzweil 3000.

To use this method, follow the steps below:

  • Start the Kurzweil 3000 application
  • Use your browser to open a book on your CourseSmart bookshelf and go to the page where you would like to start reading
  • Click on the Print icon within CourseSmart:

  • The print dialog will pre-fill with your current page number. Select the number of pages you wish to print, from 1 to 10, and press “Print”

  • You will receive the Page Setup dialog which you can immediately bypass by pressing “OK”

  • Select the “Print as PDF” selection in the Print dialog, then select the option “Open as PDF in Kurzweil 3000”

  • Start reading by pressing the Kurzweil “Play” button in the Kurzweil tool window

  • If you have selected the Unit “Sentence”, you can use the Skip Forward button to skip past the Copyright Watermark

  • Kurzweil will start reading your text and highlighting the words as they are read
