Locating and Obtaining Course Materials

Partnerships with the leading publishers in higher education (see a list of publisher partners here) make CourseSmart the largest provider of eTextbooks and digital course materials. The CourseSmart catalog offers, as eTextbooks, more than 90% of the textbook titles in use today in North American higher education.

CourseSmart's publisher partners make eTextbooks available to instructors at no charge.

Simply request an evaluation copy from CourseSmart. You will be able to read your eTextbook online or offline. To receive instructions on reading online, review help topic folder Using eTextoboks Online and for instructions for offline, review the help topic folder Using eTextbooks Offline.

IMPORTANT: CourseSmart has no control of when a publisher may decide to retire or remove a eTextbook from CourseSmart's inventory. When a publisher removes an eTextbook from our inventory, active rentals are left in tact, but future rentals are no longer available.

Locate the titles you are interested in using the instructions for searching and browsing in Finding the eTextbook You Want.

On every Search Results page or Product Detail page, a signed-in instructor sees a Request Online Copy button.

Clicking this button brings up a brief form for you to fill out. CourseSmart will forward this request to the publisher of that eTextbook, and the title will appear on your Bookshelf as soon as the request is approved by the publisher.

Once the instructor has received one book from a publisher, the instructor will no longer have to request an online copy. When an instructor searches for a book, the signed-in instructor will see the "Add to Bookshelf" button. If the instructor clicks on "Add to Bookshelf", the book will added to the instructor's bookshelf.
